A gentle man who, in 1833, published a volume, entitled, An Argument a priori for the Being and Attributes of God, sent a challenge, a few months ago, to a society of free thinkers in this city, to refute the reasoning contained in the aforesaid work. The tone of the communication is rather fierce than gallant haughty and cavalier rather than courteous. Perhaps the author, in his zeal of God, does not conceive any great civility to be due to those who do not subscribe to his own creed. If so, it is only another in stance among the many that occur, of men, even men of learning and talents, allowing a morose religion to hold the sway over their better nature.
